In-House Print Design & Production | HP Graphics Experience Center

End-to-end print design, prepress & production for the HP Graphics Experience Center

Brief:
The HP Graphics Experience Center is a high-end, client-facing showroom in Alpharetta where customers visit to demo HP industrial printing presses and finishing equipment, explore print solutions, and review custom samples. A wide range of printed materials is required to support these demos, sales efforts, and daily client interactions. These materials are also used to enhance the overall client experience while showcasing the capabilities of HP print. With frequent events and customer visits, materials are often tailored and personalized to specific clients, groups, and marketing initiatives.

Scope:

  • Designed a wide range of in-house print materials, including badges, notebooks, brochures, business cards, folders, signage, and holiday cards for events and client experiences

  • Managed the full production process from concept through design, prepress, printing, and finishing

  • Produced materials hands-on using HP Indigo presses and finishing equipment

  • Developed personalized outputs for items such as badges, notebooks, and folders using variable data

  • Collaborated with finishing partners and incorporated input from marketing and management teams throughout the design process

  • Executed projects under tight deadlines to support Graphics Experience Center operations and HP marketing needs

Impact:

  • Designed and produced materials used daily within the Graphics Experience Center, often serving as a client’s first physical interaction with HP branding

  • Tailored designs to specific clients and events, creating personalized materials that enhance the overall experience

  • Enhanced the client experience by creating thoughtful, customized materials for each visit

  • Maintained visual consistency across all printed touchpoints, reinforcing a cohesive and high-quality brand presence

  • Supported marketing and sales efforts through brochures and folders used by teams and solution architects during client engagements

  • Contributed to sales enablement by producing folders that house critical samples used in the presentation of industrial printing solutions

  • Managed projects end-to-end, from concept and file setup through hands-on production and collaboration with finishing partners

  • Designed and produced materials for both client-facing and internal use, including employee holiday cards

Summary:
This project strengthened my ability to manage end-to-end print production under tight deadlines, from file setup and imposition to press proofing and quality control. It expanded my experience with variable data, allowing me to tailor materials for specific clients and events, and improved my technical skills in working with spot colors, registration marks, and dielines. I also developed stronger cross-functional collaboration skills, working with marketing, management, and finishing partners while iterating quickly based on feedback in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Highlights

HP Employee Holiday Cards
Designed a set of holiday cards that HP gave out to employees, including both a Christmas and New Year’s theme. For the Christmas card, I created several unique snowflake variations using Adobe’s generative AI tools, then arranged them around the HP logo to resemble an ornament. I enhanced the design by incorporating a silver spot color underlay to achieve a metallic effect, with the HP logo foil stamped in blue. For the New Year’s card, I illustrated fireworks in Adobe Illustrator and used a similar spot color technique to create a metallic finish that contrasts with the night sky background. Both cards were produced in-house, including printing, cutting, and scoring using Duplo finishing equipment.

HP Employee Business Cards

Designed the standard business card template that was used for HP employees at the Graphics Experience Center, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines while maintaining a clean, professional layout. Printed custom business cards for a wide range of employees, managing the process from design through printing, finishing, and distribution. This included preparing print-ready files, operating production equipment, cutting and trimming cards, and coordinating shipping. Served as the primary point of contact for business card production within the Graphics Experience Center.
